Transplant Team
Transplantation Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center is led by director Jimmy A. Light, MD, FACS. He has served in this capacity since 1983, and has more than 30 years of experience in renal transplantation.
The team is comprised of a network of individuals, who all work together seamlessly to ensure a gratifying transplant experience for our patients.

All aspects of the transplant process will be discussed with you and your family, and all possible questions answered. As our patients are life long, it is our goal to create meaningful relationships, along with a successful and healthy transplant experience.
Continuing Education
To stay current with all of the advances in the field of transplantation, Transplantation Services sponsors weekly conferences with guest presentations by transplant physicians from other facilities. These presentations promote lively discussions concerning the latest research and discoveries. We also require all of our staff to participate in continuing education to continually update their transplant knowledge.
