Going From MedStar Washington Hospital Center to other locations

From the Hospital

From Parking Pavilion I (located across from the Main Entrance of the hospital) : Take a left out of the garage on to Hospital Center Drive.

From Parking Pavilion II (located next to the Physician’s Office Building) : Take a right out of the garage on to Hospital Center Drive.

To the North (Baltimore, MD)

Option One Via I-95

From Hospital Center Drive, take a left onto 1st Street at the stop sign.

Take a right onto Irving Street at the light.

Take your second right onto North Capitol Street (Northbound)and follow for about 1.8 miles to New Hampshire Avenue.

Take a right on to New Hampshire Avenue and follow for about 4.6 miles. You will see a sign for "495 Beltway Baltimore/Northern Virginia". Take this exit and follow "495E to 95", "Silver Spring/College Park".

Option Two Via I-295 (Baltimore/Washington Parkway)

From Hospital Center Drive, take a right onto 1st Street at the stop sign.

At your first traffic light, take a left onto Michigan Avenue.

Turn right onto Monroe Street and follow for about 1.3 miles to South Dakota Avenue.

Take a right onto South Dakota Avenue and follow for about 1.4 miles until road merges onto a four lane highway. Move to the two left lanes and you will merge onto the Baltimore/Washington Parkway.

To 50 East (Annapolis, MD)

From Hospital Center Drive, take a right onto 1st Street at the stop sign.

At your first traffic light, take a left onto Michigan Avenue.

Turn right onto Monroe Street and follow for about 1.3 miles to South Dakota Avenue.

Take a right onto South Dakota Avenue and follow for about 1.4 miles until road merges onto a four lane highway. Remain in the two right lanes and you will merge onto Route 50 towards Annapolis.

To the West (Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania)

From Hospital Center Drive, take a left onto 1st Street at the stop sign.

Take a right onto Irving Street at the light.

Take your second right onto North Capitol Street (Northbound) and follow for about 1.5 miles to Missouri Avenue.

Take a left onto Missouri Avenue.

Take a right onto Georgia Avenue and follow for about 4.5 miles to Capitol Beltway/495.

Take Capitol Beltway West towards Northern Virginia and exit on I-270 North.

Take I-270 North to I-70 West.

Take I-70 West to Route 40 West.

To Greenbelt, College Park and Hyattsville

From Hospital Center Drive, take a right onto 1st Street at the stop sign.

At your first traffic light, take a left onto Michigan Avenue.

Stay on Michigan Avenue and it becomes Queens Chapel Road.

To Montgomery County via Wisconsin or Connecticut Avenues

From Hospital Center Drive, take a left onto 1st Street at the stop sign.

Take a right onto Irving Street at the light.

Take your second right onto North Capitol Street (Northbound) and follow for about 1.5 miles to Missouri Avenue.

Take a left onto Missouri Avenue.

At Georgia Avenue, take a right followed by an immediate left at the light.

Missouri Avenue has now become Military Road.

Follow Military Road to either Connecticut Avenue (go right here).

Or you can continue on Military Road to Western Avenue\Wisconsin Avenue (go left here followed by an immediate right) to get onto Wisconsin Avenue.

To the Northwest (Frederick, Maryland)

From Hospital Center Drive, take a left onto 1st Street at the stop sign.

Take a right onto Irving Street at the light.

Take your second right onto North Capitol Street (Northbound) and follow for about 1.5 miles to Missouri Avenue.

Take a left onto Missouri Avenue.

Take a right onto Georgia Avenue and follow for about 4.5 miles to Capitol Beltway/495.

Take Capitol Beltway West towards Northern Virginia and exit on I-270 North.

Take I-270 North to I-70 West.
